Elevator Boot with Pit

The customer needed to unload wheat trucks faster for his customers, and go directly into rail cars that also needed to be loaded quickly to cut down on demurrage costs. The trick was to install a new bucket elevator and an unloading pit both with 20,000 BPH capacity next to an existing elevator and pit and both to run in tandem. We chose a Sukup elevator and pit conveyor to be installed. A significant amount of excavation was needed to build the pit for such a large conveyor and to run under the rail spur for optional railcar unloading. All being performed while the facility was operating as a feed mill suppling feedlots and dairies in the area. After installation, the facility is able to unload trucks in under 3 minutes and load a 200,000 lb. rail car in under 10 minutes.

On Farm Dryer

The customer wanted the option to dry rice in his corn storage operation. We took one of his existing tanks and added a separate unload auger system to go straight to the dryer to prevent any corn contamination coming from the other tanks at his facility. The dryer from Sukup is fully automated and can take 5% points of moisture in a single pass through. We added a separate bucket elevator for taking the dried rice away from the dryer and capable of moving the rice to any of the customers other tanks.

Pass Through Scale

The customer wanted to add some additional unloading capacity to his facility and wanted to speed the process of weighing trucks into the facility and unloading them as quickly as possible. We decided to install a Cardinal scale with a pass through grating so the trucks could pull onto the scale, be weighed, unloaded, and weighed empty all within a matter of 5 minutes or less. A Sukup hi-flight pit conveyor was installed under the scale and positioned to unload into a Sukup bucket elevator to facilitate the truck unloading. Truck loading from the facility is also a quick process by having the truck on the scale while loading. The trucker is able to load the exact pounds without going back and forth to another pit. Again, costing time and effort with the trucker and facility personnel.
